TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) — The Florida House begins discussion Tuesday on several measures backers hope will limit abortions, with votes expected on Wednesday.

Among the bills (HB 1127) is a measure that would require a woman seeking an abortion to first view an ultrasound of her fetus or listen to a description of it. It’s virtually identical to a bill that former Gov. Charlie Crist vetoed last year.

Another bill (HJR 1179) would ask voters to change the constitution to add a ban on public funding for abortions. It also would carve out an exception for abortion to Florida’s strong privacy right. The U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion is based on privacy rights.
